Isn't it wonderful how a few folks can settle what's wrong with the world. Yesterday, a rare day off for me, I decided to ride my bike around the park, something I've been promising myself I'd do asap. It was a beautiful day and I saw many of my friends and neighbors outdoors, gardening, talking to neighbors and walking the same routes I was riding. When I came to the clubhouse and pool area I heard many voices so I parked the bike and took a look at who was poolside. Seeing several friends, I opened the gate.
It wasn't long before I had joined two couples at one of the umbrella tables. I knew one woman and met the others. Do you know that together in a relatively short time we'd sorted out one of the 'problems' of the day. For one thing, which really surprised me, we all agreed that this 'global warming' thing is pretty much political. I cited the terrible ice age and that there apparently was no reason for that other than extreem weather changes. We also talked about what is known as the little ice age in the 1400s that killed food crops in Europe and thereby greatly depleted the population. There were no noxious gasses being tossed into the atmosphere back then. The world population wasn't something that had to be dealt with as far as changes to the weather but still we earthlings had an 'ice age'. Not too long ago I watched something on the history channel on TV and was amazed to find that at one time the Arctic circle was once covered with sandy beaches and palm trees and the bears were brown. The bears changed their coats to white over time while the weather changed from sunny and warm to incredibly cold. Wonder what made that happen? Could it be weather cycles? Anyhow, it was nice to be able to chat with folks whom I didn't really know but who were on the same page as I am. We also decided that recycling is one of the most important things just plain folks can do. I recycle everything from a jello box to those take home foam boxes. Now we're praying for someone to come up with a renewable fuel answer. Time will tell.
