Why is it that the more you plan the less you accomplish? I like to think of myself as a pretty well organized person. After all I've held some challenging jobs over my career years. I raised three children as a single mother for 17 years, not that I'm looking for accolades. But, today I had it all planned. A quick trip to WalMart for a prescription. Across the street to Publix (our favorite grocery story) for some groceries and then home to work on my book. Well the quick trip to WalMart lasted over an hour. I just had to check out a couple of things that weren't on my list and then I ran into a friend. We chatted for a time (actually more time than I realized). Then my reliable Publix fouled up my order in the bakery so there was a delay there; they've just opened this newest store and I can't find anything and then I ran into a lovely woman (apparently a transplanted Brit) who was standing in line at a tasting station to sample a piece of poached salmon (it was delicious). I said something (can't remember what it was) and she turned to me and said, "I detect a British gal." Well, my parents were British and I learned to speak in England but I thought all that accent had disappeared over the years. I guess my husband is right. Everyone once in a while he tells me, "I hear the Brit talking."
Then I received a call from the Pinochle lady who desperately needed a substitute player for tonight so dinner was a rush and I went up to the clubhouse to play cards. But the whole day wasn't a disaster after all. I won and came home with the cash to prove it.
