I was talking to a girl friend recently and she asked, "What are you up to?" Well, I told her that I'd just finished my 10th novel, Second Chances, a sequel to Echoes. Second Chances hasn't even been sent to the publisher yet and already there is an interest in the publication date by those who read Echoes. Her face beamed and she said, "Make sure you let me know when it comes out." Then she giggled when she heard that I've already begun 11th novel. So far it doesn't even have a title but then many of my novels were un-named until the manuscript pointed me in that direction. I hadn't really expected to begin this soon but the idea popped into my mind and well, what's a writer to do? I've written the prologue and the first two chapters. Now I have to do some heavy thinking on just where this plot will go. But then, that's how most of my books start; with an idea and a couple characters, then I wait and see what happens.
It's what I love to do so there's no complaints from this department. But I do wonder what methods other writers use to get a new book launched into the computer.
