BIG NEWS BIG NEWS! Yesterday's mail brought me one of the biggest surprises in my life. I received a small package and didn't recognize the sender. So I opened it wondering who had sent me anything that required priority mail - and to my wondering eyes appeared a trophy. I WON FIRST PLACE IN FLORIDA WRITERS ASSOCIATION'S ROYAL PALM LITERARY AWARDS contest. My book, A Grandma for Christmas, took first place in the women's fiction, published category. I was so excited I had to dial my writer friend's telephone number four times before I got it right. To receive accolades from anyone about your writing is wonderful - words that authors live by - but to receive recognition from your peers -- well that's the icing on the cake. I'll come down from this glorious cloud soon and get back to the manuscript I've been pondering over for some time but I had to share this news with other writers.
