Time… Time is an illusive commodity -- but it shouldn't be. After all there are 24 hours in each day -- for me and for everyone. Sometimes though, I try to stretch that amount of time into something unreal. For the past three months I have overbooks myself to the extent that my daily calendar looks like a roadmap to disaster. I've crowded so many things into each one of those little white boxes, sometimes jotting down three or four activities a day. For instance on one day in February (and the month has only just begun) I have a 9:00 doctor appointment; a 1:00 meeting at the library; 2:00 is chorus rehearsal and cards at the clubhouse that evening. Even so, those crowded calendar boxes have been fun and exciting as well as exhausting at times. During this three month period of hectic activity I've given speeches which were warmly received and I've held book signings that far exceeded any dreams. The local college asked me to do another six-week creative writing class and I said 'yes' as I don't seem to know how to say 'no' but then I never did. I've enjoyed teaching and now as a spin-off of that first experience I've started a writer's critique group. I've met some wonderful people and have opened up doors I never knew existed. Would you believe that I have two speaking engagements for 2010? At times I've stresses myself and my dear, patient husband but he remains staunchly behind me, encouraging and supporting me. One of the downers about all this activity is that a lot of emails remain unanswered. Also, my 'to do' stack on the corner of my desk has reached alarming heights. I'll get to those things soon. I haven't had time to work on my latest manuscript but I know that I'll be back to that shortly, I promise myself. I guess I'll always be overly busy, that's just me and I thank God every day for the gift of being able to do these things; for the health that I need and for my joy at being able to do what I dreamed of doing for most of my adult life. Life is good - enjoy it to the fullest.
