I was talking to my oh,so-wonderful students at South Florida Community College during our class yesterday and I mentioned how important it is to have goals. "Goals," I said, "are important all throughout your life." I mentioned that we've been setting goals for ourselves all our life and perhaps didn't even realize it. "I'll make that grade; I'll get that job; I'll write a book - and then publish it." Some goals are achievable and others aren't and if you fail to reach a goal perhaps you've set it a bit high. Re-think that goal and perhaps you can do a bit of reajusting and then make that one. Anyhow, it caused me to think about my goals, some of which I've made and others fell by the wayside. One of my goals I'm proudest of (and there are quite a few after I gave them some deep thought) is the one about writing. I wanted to write for such a long time and didn't and then I did. But I not only reached that goal, I just went on and on and on. Ten books later I'm still writing. Of course some of the lesser goals are a bit tougher to achieve. Remember when a week ago I said I must dust today. Well, I didn't. Ashamed? Not particularly. I'll make another goal soon. Oh, what was that? I think my duster is calling.
