I finally got another pc hooked up at home so that I can get on occasionally...Deb spends every minute on MySpace. Does anyone else think that site is a little too free?
Listen to this middle aged hippie complaining about freedom....of anything. Didn't we espouse freedom in every sense? Wonder what happened to all that idealism. Age, I guess. It didn't take long for me to realize that there is no such thing as complete personal freedom...our freedom always infringes in some way on someone elses. damnit! The concept was so perfect. I have the right to do anything I want to my own life and my own body. It sounded fine in 1967. I think I really believed it too. But then I watched friends burn out their mind and body and who do you think had to assume responsibility for them? The government in some cases, family in others. Where did their family's personal freedom go? They certainly had the right to live their life without having to deal with burned out acid heads, but at least three of my friends back then ended up having to live at home and be taken care of. Because they had the right to live as the pleased. Like I said, nice concept but it just ain't real.
So where did all that come from...I'm not sure...and it probably doesn't matter.
Things are going pretty well at the Hess household lately. Deb finally got her last court case over with and although the judge felt she was really turning her life around, he didn't feel right not punishing her for what she did last year, so he put her on house arrest for 120 days. I'm not sure who that is supposed to punish. I had to install a new phone line because her electronic monitoring device interfered with my dsl. She is home alot so I could never get on the internet so I installed another pc in my bedroom. I had to buy a router and a new computer desk, more surge protectors and all the various things one needs to be comfortable at the pc. So far that has not included a comfortable chair so I'm using my old pc chair that I quit using because it was so uncomfortable. Being on house arrest and probation costs now, she has to pay 5 dollars a day for house arrest and 30 a month to be on probation. She has to go to after care which costs $150 initially and $15 a week after that. My point? There isn't much left over to contribute to good old mom and the household expenses but thats not the states problem and I assure you they don't worry about it. I have to keep reminding myself that I am very happy that she is clean and off the streets. Now I'm kind of thinking that she might someday live on her own again but of course, that will be after she saves up enough for a car and insurance, rent and deposit on an apartment and gas money for the car...you get what I'm saying right...it is not going to happen for awhile yet. But aside from all that...we are fine.
I know, I'm boring you with my bitching but the nice thing about a blog is that I can get all this out of my system and you don't really have to read it...I will never know whether you do or not. Unless someone drops me a line to let me know...I'm a little lonely in here with my dinky little chair and my nice new pc. Drop me a note.
