Hey I survived the flu!
Okay, so you all knew I would but there is nothing like being sick to turn me into a drama queen. Something about the fuzzy robe and kleenex..does it to me every time. This flu took me by surprise, I thought I had a head cold then wham...I was on my ass. Literally.
I put the time to good use, made myself as comfortable as possible and plotted ways to do away with my sister without getting caught. Sis is one of those people who never admit to really getting sick...you know the kind, they have no patience with we stay-a-bed types. She must have told me ten times how she had the very same thing earlier in the week but she worked right thru it and it only lasted one day. Never mind that she might have contaminated 20 people during that day. I would have destroyed at least that many trying to drive while dizzy and nauseous but then I'm the weaker type. I know because she told me that when I dared suggest she might not have been as sick as I was feeling. Of course I was, she sniffed, I just don't show it like you do. So I shut up and satisfied myself with nefarious plots instead. At least she didn't let me starve. Did she fix me a bowl of soup? Maybe grab me a hamburger while she was out. Not quite. She told me to get up and shower and I could stop off for a bite with her before she left for her busy day. And I did. We went to Ponderosa and I paid ten bucks for a bowl of soup, which turned out to be all I could eat. She had to steer me around like a drunk and I think at least 10 people are now in bed because of me, but I had my bowl of soup and my sister insisted the fresh air was good for me. I was smarter the next day, I insisted on going to Panera's where the soup still cost about 10 bucks but at least I got fresh bread and chose who I would infect for the day. Nothing against the poor people at Panera's but I just needed some control over my life at that point.
I guess getting well at my house is a form of self defense, as bad as I felt the day I went back to work, sticking my tongue out at my sister's car as I drove off made me feel so much better. I'm so mature at times.
Anyway, I'm well and back at work, driving my co-workers crazy with the hacking cough left over from the flu but I am content to know that if it comes back on me, I can just keep working through it and it will be over in a day. Thanks sis...
