Probably not...everyone knows you notice something that is there quicker than that which is not.
And I haven't been. Here I mean. I've been on the couch, staring at these quilt hangings on my wall, thumbing thru a book once in a while, listening to the rain hit the windows. Some think of it as depression I guess but for me it's just short periods of the 'nothings'. Nothing to do, nothing of interest, nothing to say, nothing tastes good, just nothing in general. Oh don't get me wrong, I still eat, nothing puts me off my feed, but its an absent minded noshing, not the pleasure I usually get from chosing a meal, deciding where to eat...ha you thought I was going to say cooking, didn't you? Not me, Deb and Susie learned to cook from me, I'm a good cook, but I don't do it anymore. Too much trouble, even at better times, when the interest is there. I'd rather eat out. I'm a lazy bitch. Washing dishes and shopping for food just don't thrill me. But I usually enjoy the search for a new restaurant, the visit to an old favorite. But not during the nothings...I scramble a couple of eggs, throw in a piece of cheese, eat a spoonful of peanut butter maybe, don't even bother with the jelly and bread. If I'm really feeling creative I drive through Taco Bell. I've missed American Idol, most of Survivor and payed very little attention to House. I taped Jericho cause I know I'll regret missing it later. I'm not going to lie, I haven't read anyone, anything, I know you are all still there, I run down the list of new poems to make sure everyone is okay, but I don't read. Not during the nothings. Nothing thrills, nothing amuses, nothing....until suddenly...I wake up one day...or as it was today, I come home from work one day and I wonder whether Ed and Rufus have written anything new. If Karen has had any bad storms down her way. And I want to go read it all and I know I made it through it again. I'm going to read first and then because I don't have that fancy deal that saves programs till you are ready to watch them, and yes, I don't know the name of it...anyway, I'm going to rewind my tapes and catch up on Jericho....
