My sister is moving out!
I'm sorry let me say that without the silly grin. My sister is moving out. I was even able to tell her I would miss her (after I was sure she had signed a lease elsewhere, that is). And to some extent it is true, anyone who has ever lived with a close relative will relate to what I am saying, there were times it was really great and vacations are a good example of that. The minute we packed up the rental car and headed out to parts unknown (actually mapblasted to the nth of a mile but you know what I mean) we were the best of friends, all differences out the window. We like the same foods, wear the same type of clothes and enjoy most of the same places. The beach is the exception I'm afraid. Sis is a sun bunny, ready to hit the beach at early hours and bake all day. I would actually enjoy the beach more if the parking lot went right up to the water. Has anyone besides me noticed that sand migrates to places it shouldn't go? I'm still washing sand out of my....well let's just say, I'm still finding sand long after it should be gone.
One of the things we really enjoyed was our trip to the east coast, to Cheasapeake Bay and Virginia and Washington D.C. We got so wrapped up in historical sites that we stopped at every one. Here is the spot that General Lee was shot in the ass, a few miles away is the spot they removed the bullet, here is where he had dinner and we found ourselves even stopping at signs that said "Dump all litter in these barrels". And best of all for this teetotaller who hasn't had a drink in 15 years, there was bourbon flavored every thing. I had a bourbon steak followed by bourbon mousse and before bed a piece of bourbon chocolate. Or was it whiskey flavored. I have never gotten the difference in bourbon and whiskey, forgive my ignorance but I was a white liquor drinker, gin and rum to be exact and I never acquired a taste for the dark drinks. But when in Kentucky....or Lynchburg Tennessee....you can't avoid the Jack Daniels flavored pickles and ice cream. Or whatever else they put it in. So go native and indulge, is my philosophy. And I did it without ever losing my sobriety.
Anyway, back to the original subject, sis is moving out and I can go back to my old ways and have friends on the internet (she disapproved) 'Those people are going to come here and murder us in our sleep' she warned. I can go back to see movies with my grandson. 'It isn't normal to go see Eight Mile with your grandson' she swore. I can rent movies and watch them at home. She has controlled the tv while living with me since I never watched it when I had friends to talk to on the internet. When I found myself with nothing to do but watch tv, i watched whatever she chose to watch. Okay, you get the idea I'm happy with this move, right? But if you talk to my sister, tell her I'm sure I will really miss her sometimes....I'm not really sure when yet but I'm sure a time will arise.
