Ross Perot is on my mind..... 12/10/2006 3:34:23 PM
Scary thought huh? Our company has just outsources its I.S. department to Perot for the next ten years...
What that means to me is that I had to reapply for my job after 25 years, complete with resume, drug test and background check. Luckily for me, those things have not been an issue for so many years that I can rest easy on the drug test and the background check. But I work as first line help desk for the Tenet Health Systems in the St Louis area, supporting all the Tenet facilities here and Perot has a help desk in Dallas, so where does that leave me? Hopefully they are being honest when they say that we will be transitioned into the company in some way. I know I am a valuable employee and would be an asset to Perot...but will they realize that. We had interviews this past week and they went away for the holidays, telling us to relax and enjoy our holidays and they will come back in January and make offers. Do you know how easy that is going to be. Relax? But surprisingly enough, I am doing just that. I haven't missed one night sleep over this so far. I guess I have just been thru so many changes on this job that I have learned to roll with the punches. We have been bought out, sold out, reconstructed, divested you name it and we've been there, done that...so many times that I don't even care who pays my salary any more...as long as I get one. From what I have heard about Perot's company, it seems like a good move, if I am offered a job, the company is an upward moving, progressive corporation and we deal with them already on many issues, so they are not alien to us.
All that aside, I want to wish my many friends and fellow poets here at Authorsden a very happy holiday. I have been here thru many and they have been happier for having been here. I hope you all feel the same way. I'm a lifetime member and intend to be here for many years to come...so Happy New Year and many many more.
