Friday lasts forever 2/4/2005 1:08:11 PM
Being such a loyal employee (snicker) I came back into work today, still half sick with the flu, but I don't mind sharing...and this day will never end!
I have nothing against work, mainly because I like a steady paycheck but workdays should be reasonable, they should never last for three weeks like this one is today. I have read every poem in A.D., half the blogs, a few articles, I have two games going on yahoo and msn, I'm reading a library book and of course, doing my usual good job, and this day just stretches on forever.
Why is it that during the summer and you are having the time of your life at the pool, the sun disappears in no time at all, same with a nice day at Six Flags...its closing time before you ride half the rides, but at work, the clocks are all messed up, time inches along and you stay at work until your hair is turning gray. Or needing to be dyed again, as the case may be.
And of course, along with the time conundrum, comes the munchie dilemma. Being one of those women who are always on a diet of one kind or another, snacking is always a no-no and I do fine with that rule at home and even on weekends. (Okay, so I don't do real well, but whats a little white lie among friends) But during these endless hours at work, I could eat anything in the damned machine in the cafeteria, half what is in the jar on a co-workers desk, twice what I have in my own stash drawer and still be hungry. I'm not even sure I'm hungry, I just eat because I'm at work. I've been known to even eat the Tootsie Rolls and Smarties in the left over Halloween candy jar and no one ever touches those. I guess I don't need to tell you I'm fed up with work today do I? Luckily, I have one of those jobs that allows me to be as grumpy as I want as long as I'm Susie Creamcheese when someone calls the help desk...Hi, this is Sue...how may I help you? (perky is my middle name, groan)....and how is your day
