Is there anywhere comfortable, in the mid seventies or eighties anymore? Is it just the midwest that is scorching lately???
The heat has drained me, taken every drop of energy I might have had and sopped it up. Is it affecting you this way? Daytime is okay because my workplace is air conditioned and my home is kind of cool, my old air conditioning system is doing its best but it can hardly keep up with this kind of heat. I’ve slept on the couch a couple of times this week because the bedroom was just too warm. But to go outside is pure hell, my car never seems to cool off enough or it freezes me out, no in between. I can’t survive the morning without coffee but who really enjoys a nice cup of hot coffee when the temperature is hotter than the coffee.
I’m not sure why this is affecting me creatively but it is. I haven’t had a creative thought since this heat started. I crawl out of bed each morning, dragging my ass to work because it is what I do and I wouldn’t dream of letting something like the weather keep me away. But that is all I’m getting done. I haven’t shopped, I’m down to eating things in the refrigerator that I can’t identify. My appetite never goes away but it’s too hot to get out of the car to go in a restaurant so I’m not eating out as much. This is scary for a woman who hasn’t cooked in three years. If restaurants went on strike I would starve and here I am, eating at home. I’m wearing skirts to work because pants are just unbearable and I haven’t worn skirts except to church in years. I’m an old hippie and my reputation is at stake here, I just can’t be seen without my blue jeans too often. Mmm that sounded provocative, didn’t it? Trust me, it’s not a sexy image…me without my jeans…its just scary. It’s even too warm to go swimming, the pool feels like a bathtub, it’s too warm to be refreshing. There….have I made it clear that its just too damned hot here….I felt that it was important to let you all know, in case, somewhere, there are people who are enjoying comfortable temperatures. Somewhere…..
