My day has been a strange assortment of good and bad, nothing horrendous and nothing earth shatteringly wrong, just a typical Saturday at the Hess household...
I got up early this morning and went over to help my brother tweak his computer, both of us ignoring the fact that he is a robotics engineer and could do any of the stuff I did himself...I think he wanted the company. Me too. And in our family it is generally understood that either I or my grandson are the computer nerds, even though I have a hard time hooking up my own vcr. But thats different...I think. Anyway it was a nice morning and took my mind off the fact that this is the end of my first week on South Beach diet, which is a lot like Atkins in the first two weeks and I have another week of meat, cheese and eggs, a few veggies and lots and lots of salads. On the bright side...I have already started losing. So we went to Panera's and had the chicken caesar salad, which is allowed, and then my damned pager started sounding off. The rest of the afternoon was spent near the phone, working on problems at the hospital and doing my laundry between phone calls. Very boring but no excuse for what I did about 20 minutes ago...which was accidentally dropping my pager into the toilet. Luckily a clean toilet cause I was in the process of cleaning it. Small favors huh. Anyway it is wet now and won't work at all until it dries out. I'm being optimistic, I really don't want to explain this to my boss, even though I'm telling you all about it now. It doesn't let me off the hook for call unfortunately, I just had to call the night operator and give him my phone number instead. So now I'm sitting here, laundry all done and I've forced down my evening meal of pork and asparagus and all I seem to be able to think about is candy. So I'm trying to take my mind off a few dark chocolates I have in the freezer, left over from Christmas. But it sure is hard to forget something you are trying to forget...isn't it.
Tomorrow morning I have to pick Mom and Dad up for church, go to services, take them to lunch, go to Susie's and help Kasey finish her science project, come home and do the housework I didn't get done today and answer all the pages that I'm praying will be able to come across my pager by then...did I honestly say in an earlier blog that I spent a lot of time alone. Must have been wishful thinking.
