Too relaxed??? 7/6/2007 8:25:09 AM
Is it possible to be too relaxed? Of course it is, we all need stimulation and I am guilty of sinking too far into my comfort zone...
My grandson called me Monday to go see Rattatoile with him and I said no...I just got home and I have a lot to do. This involved a lot of sitting on the sofa and enjoying the memories of our vacation while I pretended to read a new novel. He called on Tuesday night to see if I wanted to go see Transformers and I once again begged off for one reason or another. On Wednesday the 4th he called to say that they enjoyed Transformers so much, a group of his friends were going back to see it again. Would I come? I said no, it was too hot out and it seemed like a headache type movie. You have to understand that I never turn down movies with my grandson. Since he was five we have gone to the movies at least once a week and he is nineteen now. I have seen every movie that he wants to see and almost always enjoy them. Well, he let me stay home without too much complaint but last night he and Kristen came by after I got home from work and said 'come on Grandma, we are going to Shoguns for Japanese food'. If I had turned this down, he would surely have called my doctor or driven me straight to the emergency room. I didn't turn it down. We went to his favorite hibachi restaurant and had a wonderful meal, talked about the movies I missed and their upcoming school year and anything else we could think of and when I came home, I realized I had gotten into that slump that can sometimes lead to depression with me, and Michael, God love him, would not allow that to happen. We are all so blessed to have family, myself especially, since I tend toward being a hermit if allowed to veg on my own. Michael and his girlfriend Kristen are so young and refreshing, I can't help but feel good when I am with them. I wasn't depressed and wasn't conciously avoiding anyone, I had just sunk into a place where staying home and not seeing anyone was comfortable for me. But comfort does not always equate to happiness or good health. I am one of the luckiest women in the world and sometimes I just need to be reminded of that....
