Oral Fixations? 10/10/2007 10:30:40 AM
What a provocative start for such a mundane blog. I admit to using titles to pull in readers but this is just shamefully blatant...
All right, I’ll admit I’m a real baby. I had three teeth pulled and I am miserable. Dentistry has come a long way, the shots don’t hurt half bad anymore but these teeth had to be broken and pulled out in pieces and my mouth is insulted, offended, violated and just damned sore. Have you ever noticed that when your mouth is messed up, everything else just feels bad right along with it. Maybe that is just me…I do admit my mouth is a major part of my psychological make-up. I depend on it an unfair amount. I love to talk, eat and I’m just orally fixated. Go ahead…snicker but it is true. Maybe I was weaned too early. So anyway, the sore mouth is affecting me really badly this week. But that is no excuse for letting up on my poetry reading the way I have. Truth is, I’m just jealous that ya’ll are still writing up a storm when I’m not. And when I’m jealous I pout and that’s what I have been doing this week. Hurting and pouting. I want to say to you all that I think it is wonderful that you are still writing while I’m in pain. Yeah right. I really expect the world to stop for me…I don’t know why, it never does and never has but I’m still amazed when it doesn’t. I’m not sure where the self-centered attitude comes from…I’m a middle child, one of two girls, no princess here and life has surely done nothing to make me feel special, but I just keep on thinking the world should somehow be affected by my moods and whims. Maybe I’m just stubborn…if I keep on believing…maybe it will come true. Maybe someday I’ll log into AD and find out that all of you are taking a day off because I’m having an off day. Okay….so I won’t hold my breath
