I miss the old Sue.... 2/17/2007 7:33:01 PM
For those of you who haven't known me forever, I started out writing on the internet as combination person with my daughter Deb and I, using her picture, and my writing for the most part... Let me tell you there was a liberating experience...writing as a 30+ beautiful woman, with the experience of 50+ years was wonderful. I wrote some very erotic poetry, some very liberated stuff, just different stuff than I write now. I guess I have some self-consciousness now that I didn't have before. I feel different writing my poetry as myself, not quite as free as I did as Sue/Deb. I know I was hiding behind her picture. It started out as a joke, one of her boyfriends said the perfect woman would be Deb...with my mind...after she got over being insulted and I got over being a little flattered...we created this 'woman' who wrote poetry here for almost a year. After a while Deb got bored and although she still came in and commented once and awhile, she pretty much left me to my own devices. And you know, I kind of became that woman for awhile. Weird I know but it was like being young again, even if only on line. The problem was that I made friends here and met people I really liked alot and suddenly our little 'game' became a big LIE. In my mind for sure. It became harder to pretend, and the fun was gone from the game. So I 'fessed up, posted my own photo on the bio and became the real Sue. But the other day I posted a reprint of one of the old Sue's poems and I realized that I miss her. I miss being that woman I was back then, even if it is only in my poetry. I can't find that freedom again. Go back in my poetry and read The Verdict or Strut and you will see what I mean. There was a different feel to my poetry back then. I was young, and I was very pretty and it gave me inspiration that this poor old girl just doesn't have any more. And like I said...I miss her. She was a part of me for awhile and even though she was a bitch sometimes, I was fond of her. For those of you who remember Sue/Deb, you know what I mean...for those of you who never met her...you would have either loved her or hated her...but she was definately outspoken. This is my personal tribute to Sue...she was a lot of fun while she lasted....
