I'm celebrating life today...happy to be feeling so good and that my life is so full. I'm not sure what I have done over the years to deserve the life I have now but I'm very happy...
I have to go to a meeting of the Parents of St Louis University students tonight. Sure I know I’m not his parent, Michael is my grandson lest anyone forget. As if I would let you! I joined the group because his mother and father really don’t have time and I do. And I’m glad I did. I spend entirely too much time at home. Or I did before Mike and Kristen joined me. They don’t allow me to stagnate anymore. It is amazing how adding youngsters to a house brings it to life. They are exuberant and full of energy. I don’t really try to keep up but they do keep me active and on the go. I decorated for Halloween this year and will surely go overboard for Christmas. I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving as we are having my parents and Susie’s family over for dinner. I had become the guest at all functions over the last few years, everyone just taking it for granted that it made more sense since I was alone but I really love to cook and entertain. I had also forgotten that. I made Chicken Parmesan for Mike on Saturday and he was amazed that it was so good. It was just a simple dish but he was surprised that I could cook. It made me realize again how much I have changed over the years. It just became so much easier to go out for dinner, especially since I am not too fond of leftovers. Mike and Kristen love leftovers, they come home from work at night and search the fridge for anything edible. I find myself cooking while they are at work; just so there will be something ‘left over’ in the refrigerator when they come home. I sometimes fix Kristen’s lunch while she is getting ready for school in the morning, nothing fancy; she likes Crustables…those little crustless peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and power bars. Throw in a Dr Pepper and she is good to go. Mike and I still prefer to buy lunch…he has a meal plan at school and I am just not hungry in the morning so I have a hard time deciding what to take for lunch. I know all these things sound simple and mundane to you…nothing to get excited about. But they have filled my life with things that I once did and now find new again. So yes, I’m a member of the Parents group…I feel young enough to join and energetic enough to enjoy it. If this is a new lease on life, I’m all for it…I just hope the rent hasn’t gone up….
