More nonsense from me 6/14/2007 10:11:47 AM
don't expect anything earthshattering or timely here, just me again... I’ve wanted to write something really badly this week and of course, wanting something really badly is sure to jinx the outcome. At least it does for me, when writing is the ‘wanted’ result. My output seems to decrease in direct proportion to how badly I want to write. I leave for vacation next week, two weeks in sunny Florida with the family and it is coming none too soon. Work has been hell….my job ends in September, they are outsourcing the Help Desk to Guatalajara, Mexico and I don’t really know if I will be absorbed into the department somewhere or if I will be out of work. I’ve been here over twenty five years and really hate the thought of starting over somewhere else. But I will if necessary, I’m well qualified and although a bit long in the tooth, I’m sure there is another place for me somewhere. I should be worried I guess but we have been through so many changes here, I guess I suffer from shell shock…I just don’t seem to be able to work up a good fret over it.
My grandson is moving in with me while he is in pre-med at SLU, the university associated with the hospital I work for. He could live at home but his nine year old sister drives him nuts and he really needs a quiet place to study. His home is the social hub of the neighborhood, which makes a great place to grow up, not so much for studying. He could live in the dorm but living with me will be cheaper and the university is very expensive so we are trying to save him as much as possible when he someday starts paying back those student loans. He and I have always been the best of friends and his girlfriend Kristen and I are close too so it should be fine. I’m actually looking forward to the company.
If any of you have kept up with the continuing saga of the wayward daughter, Deb, she is back in jail, failing to see her probation officer after she tested badly on a weekly drug test. I imagine she is back to another rehab since she is not really a criminal, just one of those people who got into the system and now can’t seem to work her way out of it. I really wish she would settle down and get a job, she used to be such a normal person, I can’t believe the changes in her in the last few years. Drugs are really destructive, especially when you let them destroy the good things in your life, as Debi has done. I’m not sure she even remembers the life she used to have. And I don’t really know how she will find her way back but I pray every day that she will. I did not lead an exemplary life when I was young but I straightened up years ago and I still hold out hope for Deb. Well, for someone who couldn’t find anything to write about, I seem to have filled up the page. I’ll write again after vacation…be well….
