You people need to market yourself well!

I just looked at the cover of a famous magazine that just celebrated its' 70th birthday and it showed all these 'big shots' that have graced the front cover of the magazine throughout the years. You know what the major difference between these so called 'celebrities' and people who are not as well known but have just as much talent. GREAT MARKETING. Remember fame and fortune is as much a product of great marketing as it is talent and skill. I know a lot of people who are just as talented as: these Academy Award winning actors (besides me), Pulitzer and Nobel Prize winning authors (Marcus and all you talented people who I'm sure have written just as good a book as that fella who recently won the Nobel Literature Prize), professional athletes as I remember some talented 'jocks' back in high school and college, and Nobel Prize winning scientists (Not only at Quincy but my Chem and Physics teachers back in HIGH SCHOOL, not to mention father who is a Professor of Economics at Iowa Tech and is as just as smart as the fella who won the Nobel Prize except may be these Nobel Prize people may be a bit more biased toward those snotty Ivy Leaguers as opposed to say hard working Big Ten grads like father).

Anyways you get my point. These people who've made it have had great marketing and you people need to do the same. I know I'm just as talented as any actress out there today and I will make it to the top soon. I pound the pavement every day looking for auditions in addition to the ones Jerry gets me. I market myself like crazy and bang on every Hollywood big shot's door that I possibly can. I think of myself as "billboard with two legs" and you authors need to do the same. Take your books and fliers about your books everywhere you go and use any social occasion as an opportunity to "network." As most of you already know your publishers will only do so much. I've read some of you author's works and I can tell you it's better in quality than some of these "bestsellers" who've just had better marketing.

Finally keep in mind there are only three 'givens.'
Death, Taxes, and this planet spinning on its axis which means you can watch that sun go up and down every day or you can be productive and MARKET, MARKET, MARKET. OK that's enough thoughts for now.
