We're almost done with the Double Os and all kinds of other stuff You people realize that its now 2007 and in a few years the Double Os will be over? At least for another hundred years. I mean Anything Goes in the teens or tens? That doesn't sound right. How about "We'll all be kings and queens in the teens?"
Well by immense popular demand Marcus and Shirley Woods will be having another booksigning and reading at the Williams Bookstore on January 20th between 2 and 4 PM. Details will be announced in the events section. Of course yours truly will be there again so comeon by and support us.
Two movies I recently saw that you people may want to see. "Apocalypto" may be a violent graphic movie but it is an excellent narrative description about South American indian life before the Spaniards arrived to the "New World." "Freedom Writers" was just an excellent movie about another teacher trying to get through to a bunch of tough inner city kids ala "Blackboard Jungle" and "To Sir with Love." The difference between this movie and those other movies is this movie came from a true story. I just can't imagine how any teacher can teach tough kids like that. Marcus also teaches inner city kids. Those teachers deserve some kind of Medal of Honor or something. Anyways I actually thought Hillary Swank delivered a better performance in "Freedom Writers" than in her two Oscar winning roles in "Million Dollar Baby" and "Boys Don't Cry."
Speaking of teachers you have to have great skill with your mouth to you know to help control your class and get those kids to do any kind of work for you. The problem with teachers is that society doesn't respect them and they don't get paid a lot of money. I just read about some football coach who got fired and he got like a ten million dollar buyout clause just for losing his job. Even more sickening I read in the paper about a CEO who got fired and got a 200 million dollar buyout clause. And these politicians vote themselves big fat pay raises every few years and they never get fired. I mean what do you have to do to be a CEO, athletic coach or politician except have "great mouth skill." Well I think I have great mouth skill on top of having a degree from a top school and here I am still a sttruggling waitress. I need to look into being a CEO, politician, or athletic coach if I can't make it as an actress.
You people may also want to get on DVD or if you have cable it may come on Turner Movie Classics a great movie from the past called "Inherit the Wind." It's a great movie about the Scopes "Monkey Trial" that took place in Tennessee in the 1920s and has a great ensemble including Spencer Tracy, Gene Kelly, Frederick March and that fella that played the orignal "Darren" on "Bewitched."
Marcus went to a New Years Eve Party and he couldn't how many people were like 50 years old and tried to look and act like they were 21. Guess you didn't miss your 30th reunion after all did you Marcus? OK way more than enough thought for now.
