Now I know my purpose in life and a Labor Day tribute to all the hard laborers Now I see why the Lord made me and put me on this Earth on the exact time at the exact place. After just seeing 'SuperBad' and one dumb reality show or 'Amateur Idol' show after another on TV, I am convinced that the Lord wants me to save the Earth from the 'brain snatchers' that are invading all these young Gen X and Gen Y entertainment executive's and producer's brains that are allowing this garbage to pollute our movies and television stations. So to fight the Brain Snatchers, when I have time off from my waitress job I am also writing movie and TV scripts and sending them to the studios and trying to convince them that anything I write is better than the garbage you see in the entertainment world today. I continue to do my auditions and know that fate will make one day force one of these young decision makers to pick someone with some acting talent espeically after looking at the fine young 'acting talent' we see today in movies like 'SuperBad' and 'Knocked Up.' I am also thinking about using my glee club background and am considering doing some recordings and sending them to the local record studios out here in Hollywood. The movies, TV shows, and songs today are so bad today that the only explanation is that the Earth is being invaded by these alien 'brain snatchers' and that we must fight the 'Invasion of the Brain Snatchers.'
Super Bad was so bad that I am convinced that the number of dirty words uttered in this movie will actually break the 'dirty word 'record that 'Casino' set ten years ago. Super Bad was so bad that the name actually is a perfect 2 word review for the movie, 'SuperBad.' Super Bad was so bad that 'toilet humor' was elevated to a new plane with scenes that make "There's Something about Mary" look like a G movie. Super Bad was so bad that you are convinced that the screenplay was written by one of those drunken teenagers at that house party. Super Bad was so bad that when I got stopped a couple of days ago by a cop (see short story) I was actually hoping it was someone like one of those two moronic cops in Super Bad but unfortunately it was Mr Serious CHP. Actually there are two good things I can say about Super Bad. I liked the funky seventies style retro music they played throughout the movie and the way the geeks looked and dresssed you would think it's 1977 not 2007 but then you see the 'cell phones.' Marcus says he remembers being with geeks like the Super Bad geeks back in high school in the ...0s. I hate to say it but some of those geeks and geek girls and party boys and girls reminded me of my high school days. Maybe Super Bad wasn't too bad after all......
So it's like Labor Day and guess what my boss Petros actually GAVE ME A DAY OFF from my waitress job. When we think about Labor Day we need to think all about these hard working people who have to get up in the morning and put in a hard days work. I just saw a fella working on the road crew fixing the street in a the 120 degree heat out here in Van Nuys. I honked my horn, smiled, and waved to this poor sweating soul and said 'Keep up the good work, it's people like you who make the world go around." The fella smiled and waved back. I saw some other people honking at him but they weren't very friendly. They were cursing at the road crew because their work caused a little traffic jam. I just can't imagine how people can treat hard working people like that, lets see them do a little work under that boiling sun.
Retro throwbacks. Would you people agree that geekdom got popular with the start of a TV show 40 years ago called Star Trek? Time for every Sci Fi geek to throw a little 40th anniversary to Star Trek. I was watching this VH 1 salute to the 80s show and they were talking about geek groups like Devo. Heck you can make a case that all those British new wavers back in the 80s were like geeks. You older people remember a Star Trek clone in the 80s called 'Buck Rogers?' Now I was thinking in the future when they have a retro show about the 00s will they talk about 'Knocked Up' and 'Super Bad' in addition to the 'Wizard movies' (Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter) and 'Dumb Reality Shows' or maybe just maybe a story about a girl who like singing the French National Anthem? Of course in those VH1 retro shows they'll make in the Teens about the 00s they'll talk about the fine writing in Authors Den because it's a heck of a lot more anything than you find elsewhere in the Net or TV or the movies. More than enough thoughts for now, I'm heading to the beach. Enjoy your Labor's Day.
