Its really feeling like summer because the Cubs are stinking it up again and Omigosh Star Wars just turned 30. Alright people got a lot to say since I last talked. First we just finished another Memorial Day's weekend and while that's when it's considered the traditional start of summer to me it feels like summer because the Cubs have been playing for nearly two months and, as a Cub fan can expect since the dawn of early Man they are playing terrible baseball. This is a yearly tradition that all Cub fans must endure. The last time the Cubs won the World Series or were even IN a World Series Home Buyers were talking to realtors about getting the best Cave their money could buy. The last time the Cubs won people went to the restaraunts to eat raw steak and raw hamburgers because fire was not yet discovered. The last time the Cubs won that Greek fellow Archimedes sat in the bathtub and said 'Eureka I've got it.' The last time the Cubs won you contacted your friends or relatives by smoke signal. The last time the Cubs won people voted for King Tut. OK you get my point. There are three constants in life, Death, Taxes, and the Cubs not playing in the World Series.
You people realize that Star Wars just turned 30. It was a long long time ago way before cell phones and the only webs around were spider webs back in 1977 when people got in really long lines to watch people like Obe Won Kenobi and Darth Vader battle it out. Marcus your'e old enough to remember people like Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamel, and of course Harrison Ford in the original with those crazy robots and that big giant Wookie? I sure as heck ain't. Anyways Marcus is a bit of a Star Wars buff and went to like a 30th anniversary convention this past weekend out here in LA. He'll be putting some pictures in this website later on. So Marcus you said people waited in long lines and paid like thirty bucks to get Carrie Fisher's autograph. I wonder how much I could charge people for autographs when I become rich and famous. I could see a Fifi convention coming too.
You retro people remember that song "One Tin Soldier" by some group called Coven that was the theme for the movie 'Billy Jack?" I just love some of those old songs that were made before I was born. Some of you baby boomer types also remember that crazy TV group called the Monkees. I really love "I'm a Believer." and of course I love those old Tommy James songs like "Mony Mony." I mean these old songs had a lot more feeling than the songs you hear today. I guess you can all me a retro Gen Yer cause the movies, TV shows, and songs today do not do it for me.
Speaking of retro on Game Show TV they used to show the old Hollywood Squares and one of the regulars was good old Charles Nelson Reilly who just passed. A real funny fella. Rest in peace Charles. Maybe they have a Hollywood Squares in Heaven. Wonder if Paul Lynde is in it?
I just saw that Ashley Judd's husband won the Indy 500. Ashley Judd will be a notable name this year not only because hubby won the big race BUT BECAUSE BUG HAS TO BE HANDS DOWN THE WORST WORST MOVIE OF THE YEAR AND IT WILL BE A SOLID FAVORITE TO WIN THE RASBERRY AWARD. I mean BUG may be the worst movie I have ever seen and I can't believe William Fridedkin who directed one oF the best films of all time (The Exorcist) directed something as utterly awful as this.
One more thing. You people realize that some of the greatest actors who lived like Bogart and Brando DIDN'T EVEN FINISH HIGH SCHOOL. Proves to be successful in life guts and perseverance are just as important as an education. Proud to say I have both BUT JERRY I'M STILL A STRUGGLIN WAITRESS. WHEN WILL I COSTAR WITH JOHNNY DEPP JERRY? OK I think I've blabbed long enough for now.
