Just 4 days before the big day and I haven't bought anything
for anybody. Ugggh I have a bad case of PROCRASTINITIS.
I mean it's not even four days, it's late at night on the 21st so it's like THREE DAYS. I've been just so busy wih my job and going to all kinds of stupid auditions and getting turned down at these stupid auditions that I've almost forgot Christmas was right aound the corner. BUT I ADMIT I HAVE A BAD CASE OF PROCRASTINITIS AND DO THINGS AT THE LAST MINUTE. I could have done this shopping say around Thanksgiving. You people procrastinate? It really is a bad habit.
So thank God I'm not working at the restaraunt this weekend so I can get up at the crack of dawn, spend a half hour or so trying to find a parking space maybe a half a mile away from the store because all the last minute shoppers like me will be shopping, spend hours and hours trying to find the right kind of gifts for my family, you know my folks, Pigg my sister, and my grandmother, spend another hour or two getting my gifts packaged, then go to the local post office out here in Van Nuys which will be open till 5 because of the Holiday Season, but still have to wait maybe hours in a line that'll probably be a hundred miles long, spend a lot of hard earned extra money for express package service, and hope and pray that my packages will arrive at my home in Des Moines in like two days. Then I have to do this shopping nonsense the next day for all my friends who live out here in LA. I HAVE TO ADMIT SOMETIMES THERE'S ADVANTAGES TO BEING AN ATHEIST. ALL MY ATHEIST FRIENDS HAVE TO DO IS BUY A LITTLE FOOD TO CELEBRATE THEIR 'WINTER SOLTICE.' I'm just gonna be so exhausted come Sunday night.
The movies are so bad today they don't even make old fashioned 'tear jerkers' anymore. I just saw 'Love Story' and I admit I had to use some kleenix at the end of that movie. Also The Classical Movie channel gave a remembrance to all the people in the entertainment industry who sadly passed on this year. People like Sidney Sheldon, the famous novelist, the great Swedish director Ingmar Bergen, one of my favorite actressses, Jane Wyman, she was great in that movie 'Johnny Belinda,' and really great characters like Roscoe Lee Brown. You genxers and baby boomers remember seeing Roscoe Lee Brown in those blackexploitation movies back in the 70s? Sad to see so many talented people leave us.
Speaking of talented people who left us it I also read a few days ago that Dan Folgelberg passed on. A great singer who made a few unforgettable songs like 'Longer' and 'Leader of the Band.'
Omigosh I hear that they might not put the Golden Globes on TV because of this writers strike. Hope it gets settled before the Oscars come out in February but being an actress and in a union I am in total support of the writers. OK I need to get some sleep so because I have a very very busy day doing all kinds of shopping and mailing tommorrow. More than enought thoughts for now.
